Upper School’s ‘Greenest’ Members

At the unveiling of the Grade IX Class banner, students listened to speeches from each of the Upper Class presidents, who extended a warm welcome to their greenest members.

Junior class President, Sophia Tareen, elicited chuckles from the crowd when she recited a poem she had written to the Class of 2015:

Banner Day 2012
Welcome to High School Class of Green!
The next four years hold adventures unforeseen,
So, here are some tips for your future routine:
First, remember that high school is not a time to make enemies or be mean,
Rather it’s a time to try new things, maybe theater or swim team.
In my opinion, high school at Baldwin is very different than what you may have elsewhere seen,
So, take advantage of the opportunities and make these years both fun and serene.
At times you may feel stressed and your lack of sleep may be obscene,
but nothing works better than a couple cups of caffeine.
But I do hope that your troubles are few and far between,
and that you achieve all your hopes and dreams.
So, I Junior Class President, Sophia Tareen
urge you to never hold back, embrace each moment, and stay keen,
Because before you know it, the year will be Twenty-Fifteen.
